Subscription Prospectus (Canvassing Sample, Salesman Dummy). Octavo. Original publisher's decorative red cloth stamped in black and gilt with centennial eagle device to the front board. Illustrated throughout with numerous historical engravings and portraits, including engraved portrait frontispieces of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, each with original tissue guard and facsimile signature.
A Very Good Prospectus format, complete with preliminary leaves, sample text, engraved plates, publisher advertisements, binding samples, and unused subscriber record leaves. Contents are clean and unmarked, light age toning, closed tear on one fold-out ad; all samples present. Binding is sound and square. Gilt remains bright and attractive. Cloth shows light rubbing and minor wear to extremities.
Issued during the Centennial era, the volume reflects the patriotic spirit surrounding the nation's first hundred years and remains an appealing artifact of American history.
