Agatha Christie. The Body in the Library. New York: Dodd, Mead and Company, 1942.

First American Edition. Octavo (approximately 8 x 5½ inches). Complete. Bound in the publisher's original bright orange cloth lettered and decorated in black with the Red Badge Detective shield to the front board and spine. Deckled fore edge.

Contemporary ownership signature to the front endpaper, possibly that of Martha Taft, wife of Senator Robert A. Taft. Washington, D.C. Victory Book Campaign stamp present to the front endpaper.

Contents clean and unmarked with light, even toning. Binding is sound and square with a slight spine lean. Moderate wear to extremities, including bumped corners, light fraying at the spine ends, and several small cloth tears. A very good example.

The second Miss Marple novel and one of Agatha Christie's best-known Golden Age detective stories. Issued as part of Dodd Mead's Red Badge Detective series and uncommon in original cloth.
